Big W Ranch
Farming
The Big W Ranch was founded by legendary car dealer Cal Worthington. Over the decades, Mr. Worthington transformed his ranching operation into one of the largest almond and olive growing farms in the country. Today, Big W has transitioned thousands of acres away from almonds, and into olives. The majority of the ranch is maintained as dry range land. Big W has also become a major employer for the region.

Cal Worthington
The Big W Ranch's founder was none other than legendary car dealer, Cal Worthington. Mr. Worthington probably sold more vehicles than any other individual in history. Mr. Worthington grew up dirt poor, one of nine children during the great depression. He worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps before joining the Army Air Corps as a B-17 and B-29 pilot during World War II where he flew 29 missions and earned the Distinguished Flying Cross. After the war, he started selling cars and the rest is history. Dealerships, commercial real estate, ranching, and farming, continued to keep Mr. Worthington busy until his passing at the age of 92. Today, Mr. Worthington's family continues his ranching and farming legacy.
